I am delighted to announce that Tom Pado has accepted IST’s SS Principal position starting in August, 2009. Tom will be replacing Justin Alexander, who will be moving on to The Chinese International School in Hong Kong. Justin has dedicated four years of his career to IST and shown himself to be a highly professional Secondary School Principal who will be sorely missed by staff, students and parents alike.
Tom is currently the Middle School Principal at an international school in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Before Dhaka, he served as Head of the Upper School of Bavarian International School in Germany. Tom will be joined by his wife Heather, an Elementary School teacher, and their two elementary school aged daughters, Eliane and Emeline. It is a testimony to the quality and reputation of IST that someone of Tom’s talents and experience will join us when he had many other outstanding opportunities to choose from.
During his career, Tom has taught students in both middle school and high school and has served as an administrator in high school, secondary school, and middle school. As an educator with 21 years of experience working in pre-K-12 schools, a university, and a school reform organization, contributing to and facilitating school improvement processes has been at the forefront of his work. Tom has had significant experience in the IB and with accrediting agencies, CIS and WASC. He has also has some experience in developing highly successful recruitment and retaining strategies for high quality teaching staff.
